"Beliefs and Practices: Taking a Fresh Look" challenges readers to evaluate the beliefs which they embrace and the practices which they follow on pivotal topics, including religion, knowledge, choices, right and wrong, and government. It promotes critical thinking and intelligent skepticism. Each of the six chapters includes a narrative and readings. The author, Tom Shipka (Ph.D., Boston College), taught philosophy at Youngstown State University for 46 years. His publications include a text and dozens of articles. He also aired 164 commentaries on the National Public Radio affiliate in Youngstown, Ohio. The readings following the narratives in each chapter include some of his articles and commentaries.
