This is the biography of Chukwuedu Nwokolo, one of Nigeria's pioneer physicians. Born in 1921, Chukwuedu belongs to that small group of visionary and pioneer intellectuals that passed through the highest institutions of learning in Nigeria in the 1940's. This group spear headed the post first world war phase of African renaissance. His very distinguished career spanned five decades during which he contributed prolifically to medical science through research, teaching and professional practice. In the medical field he was a role model for academic and professional brilliance firmly rooted in dignity, moral and ethical values. He loved and encouraged merit and his contributions and collaborations at home and abroad in research, lectures and monographs made him internationally renowned and has served as a frame work for industrial, technological and philosophical progress in Nigeria. He has been described as a man of towering intellect with genius class reasoning, a physicians physician, a great mentor and an outstanding icon and doyen of medical science.
