The life-story of Chiswakhata Mkandawire (1903-1998) who was the principal missionary at the Livingstonia mission in Malawi for over sixty years. His life and work spanned much of the period from the beginnings of Christianity in Malawi to the modern Christian church, and many of the crucial events and developments of Presbyterianism in Malawi. This biography is also an effort to record the key role of an African Christian in the Livingstonia mission, and so redress the documentation of a history, which has traditionally concentrated on the roles of foreign missionaries as opposed to their African counterparts.
