English summary: Amenhotep IV. Akhenaten and his son Tutankhaten / Tutankhamun are today probably regarded as the most famous kings of Ancient Egypt. Whereas Akhenaten is mainly known for his unique and colorful personality and for initiating a cultural revolution, the name of Tutankhamun is associated with the sensational rediscovery of the exceptional treasures in his grave. The fifth edition of Hermann Alexander Schlogl's preserved volume has been completely revised and extended on the basis of the latest and spectacular discoveries made by historic and interdisciplinary research during the last two decades. With the help of numerous references and bibliographic notes, the publication guides the reader through the tangled paths of academic study done on Akhenaten and Tutankhamun. The detailed bibliography is arranged chronologically and thematically and a brief introductory chapter provides information on all the most significant historical links.
