Reseña del libro "Have No Fear, "B.G." Is Here: Memoirs (en Inglés)"

It was no raw recruit, naïve in the ways of military life who reported for duty at Toronto Manning Pool on the first of February in 1941. It was a young man of twenty, who had signed on in August of 1940 and had waited impatiently for five months before receiving orders to proceed to Toronto.B. Graham McDonald from Granby, Quebec, joined the Canadian Non-Permanent Active Militia in 1936, at the age of fifteen. He was a proud member and qualified signaler in the 24th/75th Field Battery of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. The uniform included a heavy wool tunic, riding breeches, puttees and boots fitted with spurs that jingle-jangled. He was a crack shot with a rifle and could hold his own quaffing Dawes Black Horse Ale with the First World War veterans of the Battery. He was a former RSM and Lieutenant in the Granby High School Cadet Corps.IGrowing up in the beautiful Eastern Townships, he was active in various sports; baseball, hockey, boxing, skiing etc. He was a skilled camper and spent many happy days in the lakes and mountains of the Townships. He was well prepared to "rough it" under any conditions and wherever the Air Force wished to send him.Gifted with a liberal portion of Irish blarney, thanks to both his paternal and maternal ancestors he was seldom at a loss for words, (Valedictorian of his Granby High School graduating class). An asset to be thankful for when "crossing swords" with the RAF.To summarize the more than five-year RCAF/RAF career of "B.G." without divulging pertinent details, we declare it to be most unusual, adventurous and exciting. It is very funny and most enjoyable. Let you, the reader, be the judge.
