Kenny Mitchall is a pleasant nine year old boy from Cheshire, England. He has lived with his grandparents ever since he lost his mother and father years earlier. At school Kenny suffers from being bullied by Johnny Croxwell and his gang of fellow pupils. When the bullying turns physical Kenny makes a wish never to be bullied again. Over the following two weeks he has bizarre dreams about a creepy looking tree creature that calls itself the "Roly Poly Man." Kenny thinks nothing of the strange dreams until one day he gets chased into dark woods by the bullies. There he becomes dragged into a scary world of fantasy and adventure, where he must go on a quest to save the inhabitants of the strange lands, along with some amazing friends he meets on his journey. But not everything is what it seems and Kenny must find the courage and wisdom to complete his quest before it is too late.
