Starting over is never easy, but that is exactly what Lane Jensen is going to have to do if she is going to overcome the shock and sadness of finding out that her husband of more than twenty years, has been cheating on her and now wants a divorce. Ready to try something new and unexpected, Lane agrees to take a job as a coach and choreographer, working on a fledgling reality TV series which pairs professional athletes with professional skaters and attempts to make a pairs team out of them. The team is expected to skate one performance each week on the show, the competition eliminates one couple each week. Lane travels to Hollywood, hoping to immerse herself in her new career. She soon finds herself completely enchanted with her gorgeous co-star, retired superstar quarterback, Ron Brannon. Unfortunately, Ron is married, and the chances of her team winning the competition seem slim. Ron has never ice skated, ever... The other half of Lane's seriously mismatched team is Russian figure skater Elena Denkova. Elena speaks only broken English, and her motivation for coming on the show is suspect. Lane is suspicious that Elena has only agreed to do the show, in hopes of landing bigger roles in Hollywood. It takes a lot of work to train a pairs figure skating team, especially when on of the partners has no experience at all. The team is expected to train together many hours a day, so they become quite close. Of course, the cameras are always rolling and Lane knows that even though Ron's own marriage is on the rocks, any hint of romance between the two of them would be scandalous and bad publicity for their show. Will Lane be able to resist Ron for the next four months? It hardly seems likely. Will Lane be able to take her seriously mismatched team to the finals and possibly win the competition?
