Reseña del libro "Off That Bus: The Expanded Edition (en Inglés)"
OFF THAT BUS takes the reader down Sarah Grahn's long, winding, often times bumpy road called Epilepsy. Through the many turns and tunnels, she reveals an "inner consciousness" that cannot be seen in sophisticated brain scans or measured with clinical assessments. She documents her family's hopes and sacrifices as she deals with the perils of social stigmas and the "no guarantees" dilemma of seizure management. From the disturbing visions to the trials of raising triplets and pursuing brain surgery, Sarah brings to light just what makes triumph over epilepsy truly possible. In this expanded edition, Sarah introduces a feature she titles "Mom's Letter." This feature consists of various excerpts from a very personal letter from mom to daughter, adding a new dynamic to the usual format of an autobiography. These excerpts are dispersed throughout the book at key points of Sarah's struggles to remind the reader that the problems inherent in such a diagnosis are not confined to a single person. For as Mom said "We all knew from that point on that life would indeed have to be different. We were all in it together." Author's Note: As I explain in greater detail within this book, OFF THAT BUS was the original title, free of any further explanation, of one of the key elements of my story. Though I never intended to add a subtitle, many of my "manuscript readers" thought it needed to include "something about epilepsy." So my first editions included "Visions of an Epileptic Mind" as a way to highlight a very under-valued feature of my seizures. In no way did I mean to use it as description of me as a whole person. This version, in effect, ends up coming closer to the original manuscript. I will let the reader determine what edition fits his or her individual values. Which ever edition the reader chooses, I hope that it provides the inspiration that I want to deliver.
