This feature consists of various excerpts from a very personal letter from mom to daughter, adding a new dynamic to the usual format of an autobiography. These excerpts are dispersed throughout the book at key points of Sarah's struggles to remind the reader that the problems inherent in such a diagnosis are not confined to a single person. For as Mom said "We all knew from that point on that life would indeed have to be different. We were all in it together."
