Shinebright is not a normal teenager. For starters, she lives in a cave. Secondly, her best friends are a dragon a a thief who can use magic, and a bright, cheery eight-year-old, who knows her way around swords, who lives in the woods with her pet chipmunk. She has no memory of her past, and she doesn't even know her true name. The only memory from her past that she has is a voice, saying: 'This one will shine brighter than the others.' At first, she tries to adapt to her life, and soon falls into a comfortable rhythm. But then one day, three shadow creatures attack, and she is forced to watch helplessly as they vanish, taking Mindscryer, her dragon friend, with them. If Shinebright wants to save Mindscryer, she will have to leave her safety, and embark on a journey that will cross many lands, and endanger herself and her friends. But it might already be too late... And Shinebright wasn't counting on the fact that her greatest enemy is none other than herself.
