Hidden in Plain Sight opens with a dejected Twenty-four-year-old who is institutionalized in a psychiatric ward, bemoaning the life he could have had as an ENT doctor. In the first of a series of flashbacks, Dan tells the story of how he got put in there. Beginning as a medical student on his psychiatric rotation, he meets two patients who change his life. First is Catherine, the schizophrenic who hears voices that compel her to spit out warnings about strangers. The second is Jake, a young charming murderer in the forensic unit, who is the key to helping Dan escape. The second half of the book is one heart pounding chase scene after another. Until the end, when they stop running and decide to hide in plain sight. Dan Greenberg, a future surgeon on his psychiatry rotation is assigned a schizophrenic named Catherine who has bizarre delusions of patients in specific hospital rooms all around Chicago...who she believes are in danger. Dan investigates whether they really exist and discovers that what he thought was simply the crazy ramblings of a psychotic were actually real people in the exact place she said they would be. Who are these people? Why are they in danger? Are they connected to each other? His pursuit of the truth sets off red flags, and he is set up for his girlfriend's murder, eventually becoming a psychiatric patient at the same place he was a student. He joins forces with a willing accomplice, Jake, another psychiatric patient who was convicted for murder, to escape and find answers. In doing so, he threatens to uncover a conspiracy to track and manipulate the population by a cabal of influential people who will do anything to keep their plot secret. Can he solve the mystery before they destroy his career and his life? He will learn just how far powerful people will go to stay in control, and the high price of the truth.
