Reseña del libro "The Collected Exit 6: The Adventures of One Boy Trying to Self Publish a Comic Book in the Late Nineties (en Inglés)"
It started as a dream. It turned into a plan. It became a reality. Most collected works and biographies celebrate a project's success and gives you a wonderful story of how the author found some way, against incredible odds and a world full of hardship, to make it all work. This is not one of those books. In August of 1998 Sean Tiffany's dreams came true when he self published his first issue of the vampire horror adventure comic book EXIT 6. Inspired by the success of the independent publishing movement of the early Nineties and the work of Dave Sim's Cerebus, Jeff Smith's Bone, and Terry Moore's Strangers in Paradise, Sean threw his hat (and quite a bit of time and money) into the ring and joined his comic book heroes to tell his own stories. EXIT 6 lasted three issues before the plug was pulled. The Collected EXIT 6 features the comics, ideas, and art Sean did before, during, and after those three issues saw print. It talks about the idea and creation of the concept, the road it took to put the book into print, what went wrong, and what happened after. Even when dreams fail, plans go awry, and fictional tales are cut short, there is still a story to tell. Sean Tiffany is an award nominated artist who has worked for Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Disney Magazine, Sports Illustrated Kids, Penguin Publishing, and Capstone Books. EXIT 6 was his first adventure into the world of comic book self publishing.
