In her series, "The Duck Chronicles", Gail Tucker-Griffith writes about a Muscovy duck who lives in a seaside park in Miami. Ziggy sustains an injury at the park and all her friends, human and animal, join together to help her recover. In Ziggy's story, Gail brings her view of nature to life for storytellers and young readers alike. As a scientist-educator, she is someone who understands the laws of nature but for whom the lives of living creatures she observes inspire her to celebrate their allegorical humanity. In this story Ziggy shows how she overcame loneliness and fear, and learned more about friendship, love and forgiveness, issues that face all of us, human and otherwise, young and old.
