Armitage an unconventional physicist, enlists these common people together for a royal crusade through France then Germany in search of the remnants of a rock that apparently fell from heaven. In the right hands, this powerful gem is capable of curing illness and resurrecting the recent dead. In the wrong hands however, ah. Best wait and hope nothing goes awry. From their different backgrounds, professions and natural abilities we're privileged during their travels to learn the origins of many inventions, rituals and habits that years later become common place.
