This lifestyle consisted of drugs, women, weapons and all the "toys and treats" that the children on the devil's playground were surrounded with. Wandering down the path of death and destruction, smoke and mirrors had led him through experiences that a man twice his age would not believe. At the prime age of 39, Marquis recognizes the casualties of his spiritual warfare, including a battle that cost him the last 19 years of his freedom. During this time, he has suffered from the mental and physical withdrawal of being abruptly separated from all that he knew and loved, only then to be placed in the midst of the strife and struggles that come with a sentence of life as State property. God's grace has granted Marquis wisdom and understanding to know that it takes patience while waiting for his sentence to be overturned. The same way God was patient in waiting for Marquis to turn over a new leaf on life.
