History reveals that the fall of all civilizations has been the result of an increase in pride and arrogance. Power leads to wealth; wealth leads to indulgence and pride; and these in turn lead a civilization to believe it exempt from the laws that govern the cosmos; analogously, too much water cripples the capacity of a tree to develop.
