Reseña del libro "The Next Revolution"

Every revolution that has occurred in history has emerged from a backdrop of very real social and financial inequality. Wars too have also been spurred by perceived inequalities of power and social injustice between nations. Yet, despite our well documented history it appears that we have learned very little about how to prevent the possibilities of future revolutions. In his book "The Next Revolution", Francis Browne sets out to guide ordinary people through the quagmire of modern day events that are pushing the world towards a new revolution that has the potential of being more devastating and wide reaching than any revolution we've seen to date. The book opens with a brief introduction to our historic past and highlights many of the seemingly unimportant factors that are shaping todays world, factors that could conceivably be pushing us towards a global revolution in the not too distant future. The book continues with a more in-depth explanation of modern history since World War II and the way in which modern historical events have shaped our view of international relationships and have set us up to develop a mindset that encourages unquestionable acceptance of rapid changes in our modern world. We now accept many changes that will directly lead to widespread inequalities. The gap between rich and poor is widening by the day. Huge global corporations are emerging that have the power to control every facet of our lives, corporations that are more powerful than many governments across the world. Although many facets of modern life seem totally unconnected with our historic past, the fact remains that the changing world we live in today has been shaped by historic events and our apparent inability to question how or why those changes have occurred over such a short period of time. The human race has been conditioned through political spin and education into accepting rapid change as some sort of force of good that is going to enhance our lives. The rise of technology, which is likely to lead to mass economic redundancy for many of us, is just accepted as some form of great advancement. The concentration of power into a relative handful of global corporations will further widen the inequality gap. The explosive growth in our reliance upon the medical and pharmaceutical industries to keep us all alive and kicking has been little more than the promotion of the questionable notion that we are all living longer, healthier lives. The expansion of the European Union, which aims to become a superpower in it's own right, is little more than a French inspired power grab that was born from the ashes of World War II. Governments, working hand in glove with major companies, promote the notion that commercial competition is giving us all better choices in our lives. The reality, of course, is that they are simply helping to create huge cartels that aim to increase the fortunes of commercial interests at the expense of consumers. Then there is the lunacy of the world's financial system. It's developed into a finely tuned magic trick that leads us all into believing that money has some sort of tangible value. The exponential growth in money supply across the world will surely lead to a massive global financial collapse the likes of which we have never seen before. The book is a down to earth, ordinary man's guide to our changing world. It should act as an eye-opener for those who have been so blindly led by the nose for so long. Hopefully, by exposing some of the realities of our ever-changing world, we will all wake up and start using democratic means to change our path through the next chapter of history. Hopefully, this will happen before our disappointment with the world erupts into a future bloody revolt.
